EUR/USD
Regarding news flow the E.U. was battered on Monday, but interestingly enough the EUR actually turned in a rally. The Single Currency recovered from early morning lows and turned in gains as the day progressed. While risk remains high regarding the E.U. and its Sovereign Debt crisis as pointed out via the downgrades from S&P, short term traders were enough in force yesterday to create a good bounce upwards. As the Americans return from a long holiday weekend it will be worth watching to see if risk stays on the table with the global Forex markets. The German ZEW Economic Sentiment reading earlier today turned in a better result than expected. Tomorrow will be a quiet day of data for Europe, but expect plenty of developments regarding stories regarding bonds and their yields from the continent.
Gold
Gold gained on Monday and in early trading today. As of this writing the precious metal is around 1663.00 USD. Gold has been helped by a speculative drive and perhaps safe haven seekers who are looking for other avenues besides the USD. Gold has been volatile for a while and that is not about to change. Risk management and being decisively quick is a key for Gold traders.
Oil
Crude Oil showed that its range remains true on Monday as the commodity rose in price. Coming off of its lower values Crude Oil showed that it is within a consolidated mode as speculators and traders took advantage of what has been a well-practiced demonstration of values. Until the price consolidation shows a break out, traders may be able to take advantage of support and resistance levels.

S&P, NASDAQ, DOW
Wall Street was closed on Monday because of the American holiday. As traders return today they will be confronted by a number of concerns, the E.U. downgrade, lackluster American economic data, and corporate earnings which remain cautious. The Empire State Manufacturing Index will be released today. Tomorrow inflation numbers will be presented along with the TIC Long-Term Purchases figures
