نظام المعلومات الجغرافي Quantum GIS
عبارة عن نظام جغرافي Geographic Information System مفتوح المصدر و مجاني يتركك تهيء وتنشأ الخرائط على الكمبيوتر بسهولة و يسر.
يدعم العديد من صيغ البيانات المكانية مثل
(e.g. ESRI ShapeFile, geotiff).
و به الكثير من الادوات المساعدة و الإضافات Plugins كما يحتوي على العديد من الخرائط و النماذج المتاحة مجاناً.
البرنامج متوافق مع Windows All
كما أن هناك نسخ منه مخصصة لنظام Linux
النظام في رأيي الشخصي بديل محتمل لنظام ArcGIS من ESRI و الذي يمتاز بسخافة لا حدود لها في التحقق من ترخيصه ( حتى و أنا أملك نسخة أصلية .. مجرد تغيير بسيط في النظام قد يعقد حياتك و يجعل البرنامج يقول لك أن النسخة غير شرعية)
و هو لا زال في طور النمو و التطور و النسخة الحالية تحمل الرقم 1.02

Quantum GIS (QGIS) is a user friendly Open Source Geographic Information System (GIS) licensed under the GNU General Public License. QGIS is an official project of the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo). It runs on Linux, Unix, Mac OSX, and Windows and supports numerous vector, raster, and database formats and functionalities.
Quantum GIS provides a continously growing number of capabilities provided by core functions and plugins. You can visualize, manage, edit, analyse data, and compose printable maps. Get a first impression with some screenshots and a more detailed feature list.
Quantum GIS is a volunteer driven project. We welcome contributions from in the form of code contributions, bug fixes, bug reports, contributed documentation, advocacy and supporting other users on our mailing lists and the QGIS Forum.
