Mais en pratique, comme cela fonctionne ?

Le système uTP contrôle en fait le temps de réponse et de transit des paquets entre les peers A et B, et peut ainsi déterminer si il y a congestions sur le trajet au sein du réseau ou non. En fonction, il ajuste un plafond de vitesse (d’upload surtout, vu que c’est sur « les lignes d’upload » que les congestions sont font majoritairement). En soit, il permet donc de prévenir tout soucis sur le réseau.

Ainsi, le soucis de congestion en grande partie exterminé de l’équation, le protocole BitTorrent devient un protocole comme les autres, n’attirant pas de foudres spécifiques de la part des FAI : vers une fin du filtrage/throttling ?

Cependant, vous vous posez de suite une question légitime : ma vitesse de téléchargement vas donc baisser ? Sur le papier, oui. En pratique, non. En effet, le fait de prévenir toute congestion sur le réseau va fluidifier celui-ci, améliorant la qualité du service. De plus, seul l’upload serait quelque peu abaissé en cas de potentielle congestion, donc pas de soucis si seule la vitesse de téléchargement vous importe pour le coup. Enfin, cette version 2.0 est à l’heure où j’écris cet article utilisé par des milliers de beta-testeurs, n’ayant remontés quasiment aucune perte de vitesse : le système uTP n’apporte donc que du bon.

Es-ce que ce système pacifiera le système entier sur ce problème de filtrage ? Il a au moins la qualité d’être gagnant/gagnant pour les utilisateurs et les FAI. S’il fonctionne bien, le code source pourrait être publié pour permettre une intégration dans les autres client, mais considérant le fait que uTorrent occupe déjà plus de 65% de la « part de marché » des client Torrent, les effet d’une intégration dans la v 2.0 ne se feront pas attendre.
