Installation

Before you install any major application, including Norton SystemWorks, you should
back up all of the data on your computer.

Individual products or features must be installed through the Norton SystemWorks
installation only.

If you have to install from a local drive, you must copy the entire *******s of
the CD to the root of your hard drive. Otherwise, you may encounter installation
problems.

During installation, you can specify the ******** of the custom folder into which
the product will be installed.

Order of installation for Symantec products
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following products integrate with one another and use shared components:

Norton AntiVirus
Norton Confidential
Norton Internet Security
Norton Personal Firewall
Norton SystemWorks

If you need to install two or more of these products from different product
release years, you should install them in chronological order. For example,
you should first install Norton SystemWorks 2008, and then install Norton Internet
Security 2009.

Saving an MSI log file to troubleshoot installation and uninstallation issues
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If Norton SystemWorks fails to install, Symantec recommends that you save the
Norton SystemWorks log file that is generated during the installation of Norton
SystemWorks. This will help the Symantec Support Team resolve your issue faster.

After you uninstall Norton SystemWorks, there should be two Norton SystemWorks
log files. The installation log file should show an earlier date and time and a
smaller KB size. The uninstallation log file should show a later date and time
and a larger KB size.

To locate these log files
1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start > Run.
2. Type the following command: %temp%
3. Click OK.
4. In the Windows temporary folder, find a file that is ****d as follows:
Norton SystemWorks (Date) (Time).log

Adding or removing any feature of Norton SystemWorks
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features.
2. Click Norton SystemWorks (Symantec Corporation).
3. Click Change.
4. In the Set-up box, click Modify.
5. Check or uncheck any features to add or remove the features, respectively,
and then click Next.
6. Click Finish.

If you use Norton AntiVirus, click LiveUpdate and make sure that your antivirus
software is up to date. If you use other antivirus protection, see the instructions

Uninstallation

To uninstall Norton SystemWorks
1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features > UnInstall.
2. Click Norton SystemWorks (Symantec Corporation).

To uninstall Norton AntiVirus
1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features > UnInstall
2. Click Norton AntiVirus (Symantec Corporation).

To uninstall Norton Save & Restore
1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features > UnInstall
2. Click Norton Save & Restore.

Do NOT allow any third-party utilities to monitor the uninstallation process, or it
will not complete successfully.
